About Telegram Money

Telegram Money is described in the TON documentation as a mainnet wallet for receiving assets and using decentralized apps through TON Connect. You can send Gram to Telegram users, including people who have not opened the wallet yet.

The docs list an encrypted cloud backup that splits the wallet key into three parts stored on three continents, and say the backup can be switched off or the signing key rotated. In Telegram Desktop the entry sits in the main menu under Money, and it appears only when Telegram enables wallet access for the account.

Highlights

  • Transfers to Telegram users who have not opened the wallet yet
  • Daily allowance of free transfers with fees sponsored by Telegram
  • Optional encrypted cloud backup that can be turned off
  • Appears only when Telegram enables it for the account
